This is my very first handbag cake, made for my faithful cake taster and helper. She is not really into handbags but she is definitely very much into eating cakes 🙂 Bake a madeira cake and covered it with her favourite chocolate fondant. The hydrangeas were hand painted using edible gold dust.
The handbag was supposed to be standing upright but it toppled as I was turning the turntable over and over again while painting the hydrangeas. Lesson learned – the base of the handbag would have to be a lot bigger if I want it to be upright. This will also mean that it will be a much bigger cake than this.
Can’t seem to get nice chocolate colour on camera. Tried using flash and found it to be too bright but at least it turns out to be brown and not black.
