Cupcakes for Phyllis

Phyllis wanted a few 3d car toppers to be given to her boyfriend for his birthday. As my schedule was tight, I could only make her some 2d cars using my FMM cutters.

Here’s the message on the cupcakes.

These are some of the birthday boy’s favourite things – honda car, badminton and arowana fish.

Moist Chocolate Cake for Michelle

Made this for Michelle’s 7th birthday.  It’s a moist chocolate cake with chocolate ganache.

Initially, Mummy Carrie sent me a picture of Ariel but the image was too small. It was replaced with this image which I am not sure who they are. Looks like the girls from Bratz.

Here’s the side view. The tiny little dots in various shades of pink surrounding the words “Happy Birthday” was added piece by piece to add colour to the dark chocolate ganache.

The Art of Royal Icing with Eddie Spence

Took time off to learn a new skill from THE royal icing expert, Eddie Spence. Eddie is the author of The Art of Royal Icing which was published in March this year and he also made Princess Diana and Prince Charles’s wedding cake. He was brought in by ICCA end September 2010.

Here are some of Eddie’s work.

Am so impressed with his piping skills. Eddie is already 80+ and yet his hands are more steady than ours when it comes to creating his master pieces. I love this eagle which he piped from royal icing.

Here’s a picture of my unfinished work. Only realised that those little intricate designs on my royal icing collar broke when I was assembling them on the cake. Gotta find time to finish up the rest. Piped lots and lots of bead border using tip #1. Hands were aching after that, but love the final effect 🙂
